This site sets no cookies. That is the whole policy, but here is a little more detail so you can see there is no catch.

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Sites use them to keep you logged in, to remember a basket, or, very often, to track you across the web for advertising. We do none of those things, so we have no need for cookies.

What we use instead

  • No login, no basket, no forms. There is nothing to remember about you between visits.
  • Search happens in your browser. The search box downloads a small index and matches your words on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server. See the privacy notice.
  • Analytics, if enabled, are cookieless. The site may use Plausible or Umami, hosted by us. Both are designed to count visits without cookies and without identifying you or following you to other sites.
  • Browser storage for preferences only. If you change a display setting on the site, such as a light or dark theme, your browser may keep that choice in its local storage. That information never leaves your device and is not read by us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

UK rules require a consent banner only for cookies and similar storage that are not strictly necessary for the service you asked for, such as advertising or cross-site tracking. We have no non-essential cookies, and the preference storage described above only exists to do what you asked the site to do. There is therefore nothing to consent to, and no banner to click.

If we ever needed to set a cookie, we would say so here first, explain what it was for, and ask before setting anything non-essential. Until then, this page and the terms of use are the complete picture. Questions are welcome via the about page.
